Does Your Christmas Tree Have A Theme?

For many years now, we have decorated our Christmas tree with a theme. Last year, it was Feathers and Ice, and I used white bird ornaments, small white angels, angel wings ornaments, iridescent ball ornaments, and crystal prisms, with white feather boas for our garland. I have also done a Silver and Gold tree (all silver or gold colored ornaments and garland), a snowstorm tree (all snowflake ornaments), Toys Wonderland (all miniature toys and elves), A Seashore Tree, etc

This year I’m having trouble coming up with a theme I like, my imagination is stymied. The only thoughts I’ve had were an all red or an all purple tree, but I’d like something a little more specific than that to work on.

So does your tree have a theme, and if so, what is it? Please share your ideas.
We use an artificial Christmas tree, by the way.

My grandparents do a magnolia tree every other year. Grandma found these fake magnolias that you can just stick throughout the tree. She usually uses silver and gold ornaments with it.

I know someone who did all purple and silver tree one year. It looked gorgeous.

A gift tree. Get either a couple of the big red bows you hang on doors or the tiny ones and place around the tree. Use ornaments shaped like presents.

An old time Christmas theme. One of my aunts does this every year. It is so pretty. She has all of these ornaments that look like things that go with an Old Time Christmas. Ornaments shaped like mistletoe, horse and buggy, Old fashioned looking Santas, old time candies, wreaths, and some other things.

A fun one would be a candy land theme. Ornaments shaped like different candies :)

Others I’ve seen were blue and silver themes, red and white themes, dark green and gold themes, burgundy and gold themes..

Btw. I love your past themes :)

    Nursing Ornaments

There are many reasons you may be looking for a special gift for a nurse – maybe someone close to you has just graduated from Nursing School, maybe there is a special nurse who has played an important part in nursing you or a loved one back to good health, maybe it is Christmas, maybe it is their birthday – no matter what the reason, a special personalized nursing ornament is definitely the best gift idea for a nurse. Making a gift so personal shows that one has out a lot of thought in to the gift they have chosen to give showing how important that person is to you. A nursing ornament is so much more thoughtful than another wallet, pajamas or slippers, a box of chocolates, flowers or wine and a nursing ornament lasts forever.

You may also be looking for gift ideas for a team of special nurses and in this case nursing ornaments are still the perfect gift idea. You could buy a group gift such as a “nurse angel” ornament which has” Nurses are Angels in Disguise” or” Caregivers re Special People” written on it and this would take pride of place on one of the shelves at the nursing station.

Another great idea if a party is being organized for a group of nurses is to give nursing ornaments as party favors to all the guests which they can take home as a memory of the special event. There is a good selection of lovely nursing ornaments to choose from. Each gift can also be personalized with the guests’ names which adds a really nice warm personal touch which is so suitable who “personally touch” so many people in their chosen occupation.

Some nurses may not even know about nursing ornaments and giving them one could give them an idea to start collecting them! And if they do love them (which they definitely will do!!) you could add to their collection every time you want to buy them a gift. That way you won’t have to work too hard to think of an original present every time because you know that they will be very happy to receive another nursing ornament to add to their collection. New ornaments are being made all the time so every time you can surprise the special nurse or nurses in your life with a new beautiful nursing ornament.

When buying a gift for a nurse you cannot go wrong with a nursing ornament. You know that your gift is original and that they won’t already have one and you also know that your gift will be on display for everyone to see, not like a nice pair of socks that will just be stuffed in a drawer with all the other socks. Nursing ornaments are definitely the best gift idea for the nurse or nurses in your life. You will enjoy giving them and they will love receiving them – a win-win situation!

Looking for a particular holiday ornament collection?

I am looking for the name of a particular holiday ornament collection of clear glass or plastic ornaments that rotate by plugging them into the christmas lights. They had a top hat, angel, and other assorted items. They were very pretty. My mother in law has a few and I wanted to see about getting her more. Any info can help my search. Thanks!

Just ask your MIL. Tell her that you would like to get a few for yourself and was wondering what they were called or were she got them at.

    Should I divorce my wife?

So my wife asked me to do something special with the tree this year and she really got upset with me over it. I even put an Angel at the tip of the tree but it did get squished. I just don’t know if I can live with a woman who doesn’t appreciate the artistry I did with the tree. What do you think of it? Here’s a picture of what it looks like:

There’s so many silly reasons people post on M&D about wanting a divorce, thought I’d add another one! Just to be silly!

I KNEW before I clicked the link it would be an upside-down Christmas tree. I really did…I thought “I bet it’s an upside down tree”. Yep.
    It’s beautiful.

What do you have on top of your christmas tree?

    A star or an angel?

We have an angel. We just always have in my family, so now it’s tradition. Everyone else I know has stars though. I prefer angels. They are more intricate and pretty, plus each one looks different. We bought a new one yesterday because how old one was ruined and it’s beautiful. It has blonde hair, a halo, gorgeous gold wings and a while dress coverered in purple and yellow tulle. We aren’t religious, so I like to think that the angel is more like a guardian, watching over us during the christmas months.

I am atheist, but I prefer an angel on top of my Christmas tree.

Tatty Teddy Christmas | Christmas Teddy Bear

When it comes to Christmas cross stitch kits, there are a lot of different options to choose from. Some Xstitch holiday patterns adhere to more traditional-looking themes, including images of simple rustic towns and old-world Santa Claus. Others can have a more modern feel to them, ranging from cartoonish versions of toys and teddy bears to snowmen, choo-choo trains, and other staples of Xmas.

No matter which cross stitch pattern or kit you choose, one thing to remember is to begin your project early. Crossstitching can take quite some time, especially if you’re a beginner. When thinking about giving your completed cross stitch masterpiece as a gift, especially around the holidays, you need to start working weeks or sometimes months in advance. For this reason, know what you’re getting into!

The following are all great ideas when it comes to choosing Christmas cross stitch kit themes and patterns:

    Angels and Nativity Scenes

A very popular variety of the Christmas theme includes nativity-based artwork, and cross stitching is no exception. You can find all different types of Xstitch nativity patterns as well as those that include Christmas angels, Christian angel designs, and angelic heralds by fine artists like M.I. Hummel and others. Holy night nativity crosstitch designs are known for keeping in the true spirit of Christmas, and are well-liked for that reason alone, aside from being some very beautiful standalone needlepoint.

    Cross Stitch Ornaments and Bows

Handmade Christmas ornaments are treasured keepsakes and often become family heirlooms, which is why cross stitch ornaments have become so popular. These kits are sold in multiple ornamental pieces, each one a creation unto itself that becomes ready to hang on the Christmas tree. From smaller single-serving pieces to larger, more intricate cross stitch Christmas ornament designs, you can choose from Santa, snowman, toy, teddy bear, or Xmas floral designs featuring candles, mistletoe, and holiday poinsettias.

    Holiday Landscapes and Towns

Cross stitch landscapes have always been a favorite among anyone who does needlepoint or crewel, and nothing makes a more beautiful landscape than a Christmas themed town or village. Snow-covered landscapes, bridges, and ice-skating ponds make for wonderful, colorful treasures… as do entire holiday village scenes depicting horse-drawn carriages and wintery rooftops. The variety of holiday landscape cross stitch kits are pretty endless, so there’s usually something for anyone.

    Crosstitch Christmas Stockings

Another great gift comes in the form of a do-it-yourself Xstitch Christmas stocking! Given as gifts for grandchildren or even created for your own sons and daughters, you can embroider these stockings with any child’s name or phrase in order to add that personalized touch. Creating your own masterpiece in the form of a cross stitch stocking becomes even more satisfying when it’s used again and again, year after year, as a treasured family heirloom.

Embroidered Tree Skirts and Holiday Quilts

Every Christmas tree needs a tree skirt, but why should yours be store-bought? Christmas cross stitch kits also come in the form of custom skirts and holiday quilt patterns, and these are usually printed with the most beautiful and intricate of scenes. Parades, choo-choo trains, toys, and nativity scene tree skirt patterns are available, as well as holiday crossstitch landscapes, snowman skirts, and of course, Santa Claus himself! Once you’ve finished your tree skirt you’ll have something to last a lifetime – something that your family will wake up to each Christmas morning and remember for the rest of their lives. These Xstitch kits are generally large and can take quite a long time though, so if you plan on having yours done before the holiday season be sure to start early!

The best needlepoint kits are the ones that are not only beautiful, but functional as well. This is why holiday cross stitch makes such a wonderful choice.
