Advice on a Christmas tradition or collection with my newborn?

   A filled Piggy bank… There are so many types of piggy banks !! Cute ones too.. You could fill them with lose change throughout the year and then give the filled bank to her every christmas.. then maybe when she is 18 or 21 she could cash them all in > ; – ) Or you could give her empty ones…. They are still cute and there are tons of different varieties

   Or maybe a savings bond every year.. She won’t really understand it while she is young but she will when she is older and it helps to buy her first car or whatever =)

   My Grandma buys me a Halmark Ornament every year, She gets the Mary’s Angels. She started when I was bron and they haven’t stopped making them yet. I would pick an ornament that is the 1st in the series and then get her the whole series. they could be worh money someday too.

   Why not make a gingerbread house together, you can buy kits or make it from scratch, they’re kind of hard but it’s fun to get covered with frosting and it’s funny to watch the roof cave it 10 times before you finally get it. You could also go to one of those paint your own pottery places and make a plate or ornament or something like that, and if you have more kids it’ll be easy to include them in it too.

   I bought my children an ornament every year. I think a good idea would be to buy a present and have her (him) take it to an orphanage.

   Give another (less fortunate) child a gift is the best one to start!!!

   You can’t really now, not yet, but when she is 3 or 4, you can.

   Also, silly — but my mom always got me my fave cereal, and wrapped it, each year. We couldn’t afford the good cereals, so it was a real treat.

   We do ornaments. I bought them each their own big plastic box to collect everything in. We usually base each year’s ornament on whatever they are really into that year. My son (3) already has several super hero ornaments. Each year when we decorate they get super excited about putting theirs up. Last year I got them their own fake table top tree. Now they put their small ornaments on that one and save the big ones for me. Now when they move out on their own they will have their own stash of ornaments to hang on to.
