I went to an event tonight at my son’s public elementary school (he is in third grade). They had the chorus, the chimes, and the dulcimers and they did different Christmas songs.
They played "Silent night" "Away in a Manger" "The Little Drummer Boy" Go Tell it on the Mountain" and "Hark the Harold Angels Sing"….
Now.. these are Christian songs about the birth of Christ. Under the separation of church and state, should a public (state) school have any Christian (church) songs or music at a school function.
I wasn’t sure about this, so I thought that I should ask the atheists in this section. I know how "on it" you guys are. I figured that you would know.
Should I let the Freedom From Religious Foundation know? Should I ask them to send me one of their signs so that I can place it in front of the school so the children know that there isn’t a God?
What should I do… should I be offended?
Oh… and then the principle wished everyone a Merry Christmas…..

Did they try and convert you? Do you undertand it is was a CHRISTmas program? Did it harm you or anyone else?
Look this is going way too far. If you do not want to celebrate Christmas and enjoy the season for what YOU make of it. If you do not have an open enough mind to seperate freedom from dictatorship. If you think that this whole debate will be solved by people going way too far the other way on this whole isse. Then you should leave America and find a deserted island to live with all these other people that want to enforce their beliefs. This goes for athiests, christians or anyone that cannot see what freedom and civil right liberties are all about.
Both have taken this way beyond measure. No person is an American that doe not let another American practice freedom. Especially with personal belief. You do not harm others or tread on anothers right to practice freedom, then you are standing for the American foundation of freedom. When any group start to dictate or take away anothers personal rights, then you are far from an AMerican. Even those that have been persecuted and fighting for rights…..understand the way to get that is not to take charge of mob rule, it is to change that mob rule mentality.
I know that many Americans have been denied the freedoms and liberties that I enjoy as a christian. It is disappointing when others try and dictate what a person should believe. The only answer is to stop the treading on each others personal freedoms. I think that you should be able to hang a sign, but I think each individual should make the choice of what he believes. Your comment of pacing the sign so children "know" is just like me as a christian saying…let’s have the plays so the children know there is a Jesus. I would not say that, as a person that respects freedom and personal choice it would be wrong to do so.
Religious, athiests, agnostics or whatever your "belief", if you are in America…start being an American and respecting all Freedoms. I am a proud Christian that hopes this Nation’s people will stop dividing and unite against the real issues facing us today. These issues of war, the economy, terrorists, unemployment and the fate of our Nation is not because of religion. It is because of power, money and control. We are playing right into the game that will end up destroying The United States of America.
Again….United we Stand Divided we will Fall
